In June 2017, the TRS (Teacher Retirement System of Texas) Board of Trustees approved new health plan designs and premiums. These changes will go into effect January 1st, 2018 and include the following:
- TRS-Care participants will move to one of two available health plans, depending on whether or not they qualify for Medicare.
- Prescription drug coverage vendor is changing.
- The 2017 plan year is extended through the end of December.
2018 monthly Premium amounts for retirees that are eligible for Medicare:
- Retiree only $135
- Retiree and spouse $529
